DAS 2015 Election Hustings

The DAS 2015 General Elections Hustings took place at Sense Scotland's TouchBase facility in Glasgow on 27th April chaired by Broadcaster Shereen Nanjiani. An audience of around 70 people including service users from all six DAS partner organisations had the opportunity to quiz panellists from each of Scotland's main political parties - Scottish Labour's Shadow Social Justice Minister Ken Macintosh MSP, Scottish Conservative candidate for Dundee West Panellists: Ken Macintosh MSP, Nicola Ross, Eilidh Whiteford and Chris Young Nicola Ross, Scottish National Party candidate for Banff and Buchan Eilidh Whiteford and Scottish Liberal Democrats candidate for Glasgow Central, Chris Young.

This was the second such event in DAS' refreshed work programme and follows on from the publication of the DAS 2015 Manifesto. The event was fully accessible, including BSL interpretation and subtitles designed to ensure that, whatever their disability, audience members were able to quiz parties and politicians directly on the issues they want addressed, as well as to raise the profile of disability issues in the election campaign.
