DAS submitted a considered response to the Scottish Government's consultation on the new social security powers which will be devolved by the Scotland Act 2016.

After many weeks of consulting via focus groups, interviews and subsequent analysis, DAS's response to this historic consultation has now been submitted. Read the submission here.

In compiling DAS's response each of the member organisations put forward the views of their own service users and staff and DAS's experienced policy team then identified the comment threads and messages that made up our final response.  DAS held its own policy level seminar on the 28th of July to further refine and focus its judgement and help shape its response and the response was finalised at a policy meeting on Monday 17th October.

Layla Theiner, Campaigns and Policy, also contributed the following article to Third Force News highlighting the challenge that faces disabled people, their supporters, representatives and policy makers to evolve these new social security powers into a framework delivering positive and lasting change.
